Statement
Currently exploring processes in sculptural glass casting that allow me to create freely and express my curiosity. To be specific, my intention is to avoid over-examination of a concept at inception, and instead, retrospectively consider themes and ideas in the work. Through the relationship of making I learn more about my subjects or myself.
My recent ideas have been focused on references to natural life with manipulations to form, scale, and color. I feel there is an undercurrent of nostalgia developing - like I’m celebrating something that’s fading. I’m also very curious about how I might materialize the feeling of sticky hands, or a giant glass california roll.
Glass casting can be a delicate, time consuming medium. My process allows me to overcome some of these limitations and more freely act on creative impulse.
